3D’s Division 2 champions!

3D Dynamos 6 Silkstone 0
Scorers:Luke Cornforth 3, Charlie Maslen, Tom Ireson, Will Cotton

4 games in a hectic week saw the lads falter when after only losing one league game all season with just needing a few points to clinch the title we lost 3 on the bounce within 6 days to Brighouse (2-3), Norristhorpe (3-5) and then Barugh (2-3). Thankfully Kirburton did us a great favour in beating Norristhorpe Friday night so the win against Silkstone saw us through.
We have played some great football over the season and it would have been a crying shame to fall at the last hurdle but a very composed win yesterday and had we played like that during the week we wouldn’t have made it so interesting!
Well done to everyone, player and parents providing transport etc. over the last few weeks with so many games it’s been hard work and contributed to some of the results lately but shows how well we were playing earlier in the season to string together 16 wins on the bounce.
Looking forward to a few weeks off see you at the presentation.

Wakefield 4 3D Dynamos 3
Scorers: Tom Ireson, Charlie Maslen, Sam Bagshaw

3D’s undeafeated league record fell after a disappointing second half performance when we let a 3-1 lead slip for the second game running but couldn’t manage to pull this one off and despite rallying after a mad 8 minute spell just couldn’t get an equaliser.
After playing so well in the first half it does show that we have to maintain concentration for all the match but not too many complaints as we have played a lot of games recently, some lads had played in the morning and one or two lads are carrying a few knocks and also we can’t tale anything away from Wakefield who battled back well. We now need to put this behind us and keep believing in ourselves and push on and go for the league title.

MOM: Tom Ireson

Batley Phoenix 1 3D Dynamos 5
Scorers: Charlie Maslen 2, Luke Cornforth 2, Rylan Dickinson

Normal service resumed! A comfortable win but we looked more solid today as a team and defended much better as 3D’s walking wounded travelled again for the third away game running. Good performances all round especially Rylan, Luke, Aaron and Brad McEvoy who set a great example with his determination and effort. Pick of the goals Rylan’s volley from a corner.
With players missing also very pleased with the lads who played in different positions without grumbling and without exception all played very well.

Howden Clough 4 3D Dynamos 4
Scorers: Joe Connolly 2, Tom Ireson, Luke Cornforth

Our second 4-4 draw in 3 weeks and just as dramatic as 3Ds finished up coming from behind with ten men in a game they had dominated.
We played very well in the first half Joe Connolly curling in a shot early on and we then had most of the possession and were well on top creating some good chances but just weren’t clinical enough and just before half time were punished when we switched off and let Howden equalise against the run of play but within 60 seconds Tom Ireson restored our lead in a very good passing move. Straight after the break Luke Cornforth’s cool finish made it 3-1 and we looked very comfortable but then got caught out with some indecision at the back for Howden to pull two goals back and then a moment of indiscipline led to Richard being sent off, a moment of madness which I hope we all learn from!  Even with ten men we looked the better side but were again caught on the break to go 4-3 down and our unbeaten record looked to be gone but deep into injury time Sam’s corner somehow found Joe in the 6 yard box who turned and fired home a very deserved equaliser to jubilant scenes from the away fans!
This was a good test for us against a strong Howden team and we again played some good football and the few minus points from this the lads are good enough to learn from and if we can keep improving these small things we have some great potential to do well next season.

MOM: Jack Churchill

3D Dynamos 5 Saville Town 0
Scorers: Luke Cornforth(2), Joe Connolly, Ben Ford, Aaron Rogers(P)

A commanding performance by 3D's and we began to look more like the team before the long Christmas break, moving the ball about well and showing good movement off the ball. Early goals from Luke Cornforth and Joe got us off to a good start. Luke was then upended in the box and Aaron despatched the resulting penalty before Luke got another to add his great start since signing. Although the football was just as good in the second half we only had Ben Ford's goal in the second half to show but Saville defended well in the second half to keep out a dominant 3d's.
A very pleasing display.

Kirkburton 3  3D Dynamos 4
Scorers: Aaron Rogers 2  Joe Connolly 2

After the disappointment of conceding in the last minute on Sunday to lose our 100% league record the boys bounced back to go back to the top with an excellent win at a top of the table clash at Kirkburton.
The travelling didn’t appear to effect us as we got of to a flyer when Aaron fired in a great lob and then Jack Churchill put Joe through who finished well. We worked well creating a few chances but had Brad Cruse to thank for clearing off the line but couldn’t keep Kirkburton out when they pulled a goal back from a corner just before half time.
The second half was only minutes old when Kirkburton broke to equalise but again a great response and again Aaron and then Joe found the net to restore our 2 goal advantage. Luke Cornforth was proving a thorn in the side for Kirkburton and was unlucky on two occasions not to score but just to add to the drama Kirkburton then fired in another goal to make it 4-3 but learning from Sunday we held out and defended well on the whole against the leagues top scorers for an important win to go back to the top of the league.
Again very pleasing that although not quite firing on all cylinders the lads are working hard and helping out by playing out of position for the good of the team and getting on with it a positive attitude and the results keep coming.

MOM: Jack Hirst – great performance from our stand in keeper.

3D Dynamos 4 Norristhorpe 4
Scorers: Sam Bagshaw, Jack Churchill, Luke Cornforth, Joe Connolly

Probably the most exciting match we’ll see all season as 3D’s showed great character to come back from 3-1 down to get our noses back in front 4-3 before letting Norristhorpe equalise in the dying seconds but still had time to almost snatch a winner after that!
Norristhorpe pushed us all the way and this is the quality of opposition we should be playing every week next season so shows that we just need to keep concentrating for the whole hour.
When we conceded 2 quick goals to go 3-1 behind with only 12 minutes left it didn’t look too promising but Jack Churchill led the way back with a great volley and then his header was only parried for Luke Cornforth to pounce to equalise. Just as we got over the equaliser Joe burst clear to put us 4-3 up but we couldn’t just see the game out and Norristhorpe grabbed a last gasp goal to share the spoils.
Really pleased with the response to going behind and also the positive attitude from players when we made changes and swapped positions during the game and although we were disappointed to concede an equaliser after all the hard work in making it 4-3 a draw was a fair result and our target for the away game is to improve and come away with 3 points

MOM Charlie Maslen

Saville town 1 3D Dynamos 2
Scorers: Aaron Rogers, Joe Connolly

Holidays and injury robbed 3D’s of 9 players this weekend but the 10 available worked their socks off in a competitive match at Saville Town to come away with all 3 points.
The windy conditions didn’t help either team play much flowing football and playing uphill and against the wind the whole team put in a great shift in the first half against a Saville team with some good scalps to their name in recent weeks. The only mistake in not clearing was punished with a cool finish to put us one down but we were soon back on level terms when Aaron slotted home after good work from James and Joe. Although we had more pressure in the second half we struggled to find the killer touch although we can consider ourselves unfortunate not to get a penalty early on for a rather blatant hand ball and may have been similarly aggrieved when Aaron looked to have been scythed down in the box but luckily Joe Connolly was on hand to fire home the loose ball for what proved to be the winner.
Saville pushed us all the way right to the end and Luke Rhodes who’s handling the last few weeks has been excellent plucked out of the air a very dangerous cross in the last minute.
A special mention to Tom G who played on despite carrying a knock and Richard who was supposed to leave early but stayed on.
A great team effort and the only (minor) complaint is we just need to learn to get on with things when one or two decisions don’t go our way which in the end we did and got our reward, well done.

MOM: Bradley Cruse

3D Dynamos 7 Wakefield Utd 2
Scorers: Sam Bagshaw(3), Richard Kai, Bradley McEvoy, Charlie Maslen, Luke Cornforth

Not a vintage performance but kept up the great league form after losing in the cup last week.
Played well in patches the highlights being a great hat trick from Sam and Luke Cornforths first goal for the club.

MOM; Bradley McEvoy

(u12Cup)
3D Dynamos 1 Westend Lions 3
Scorer: Sam Bagshaw

Our first defeat of the season but plenty of positives in a good performance where for long periods we matched the team currently sitting at the top of Division 1.
We were slow out of the blocks and Westend settled well and opened us up within minutes of the start and took an early lead. This seemed to settle us and we started to compete in all areas of the pitch with everyone working hard and as the first half wore on saw more of the ball and had Westend pinned back. Good work from Bradley McEvey chasing the ball down created a chance for Sam who showed great composure to make space for himself in the box and fire home an equaliser. This gave everyone the belief that we could get something out of the game and we finished the half very strongly and then carried this on into the second half when we had our best period of the game and were very unfortunate not to take the lead when Aaron’s goal bound shot hit the post and he then had a header which flew across the Westend goal but no-one could get on the end of it. This was to prove costly as we were then hit on the break and an excellent finish from Westend put them 2-1 up and any hopes we had were soon dashed when the Westend Captain capped off an impressive display by firing home a superb strike that gave Luke Rhodes no chance. This knocked the stuffing out of us and a strong Westend team really got on top in the last few minutes as we tired.
If we can continue playing like this in the league there should be no reason we aren’t playing Westend twice next year. Well done
MOM: Tom Gallagher but a tough call as the whole team put in an excellent effort again

Brighouse 1 3D Dynamos 5
Scorers: Jack Churchill 2, Joe connolly, Sam Bagshaw, Richard Kai

The second match of our double header weekend saw a great game against Brighouse which was a lot closer than the scoreline would suggest. In a fairly even opening 15 minutes it was 3D's who took charge when Jack churchill was put through and cooly slotted home.
Brighouse responded well and got a deserved equaliser shortly after. We shaded the first half when a good passing move saw Joe and Sam scramble the ball home (the goal has been given to Sam until the FA goals committee checks the video footage!)
We then came under a bit off pressure from Brighouse but the turning point of the game came when a good Brighouse move led to a shot which Luke Rhodes great save only parried to their forward who looked odds on to fire into an empty net when a fantastic tackle from James Hey stopped a certain goal. We then managed to start holding the ball up with Aaron doing some great work up front which took the pressure off and led to Jack Churchill scoring a similar goal to his first. Joe and Richard Kai then added two good goals to finish off the game.
A great team performance and we dug deep and defended well when we had to for an excellent win.

Wyke Wanderers 4 3D Dynamos 8
Scorers: C.Maslen3, J.Connolly2,E.Forshaw,D.Kerrison,S.Bagshaw

Our first league game of the calender year just shows how bad the weather has been but the boys set off well scoring 3 early goals. We were always on top and managed to have 2 shots cleared off the line, hit the woodwork twice and were foiled by Wykes man of the match in the net numerous times but still managed to get to 8-2 before tired legs let Wyke pull another 2 goals back late on.
all in all a good performance for what was only our 3rd game since mid December

Kirkheaton 1 3D Dynamos 2
Scorers: Charlie Maslen, Joe Connolly,

A welcome return after the 6 week weather break! The game was more comfortable than the score would suggest but a few near misses and some inspired keeping kept us at bay early on but a great run from Aaron set up Charlie to fire in to give us a deserved lead. Kirkheaton continued to work hard and frustrate us into the second half but Joe Connolly fired in to make it 2 before Sam Bagshaw was upended for a penalty but Kirkheaton’s keeper sealed a man of the match award by pulling off a terrific save. To add insult to injury Kirkheaton promptly went back up the pitch and a long ball took an outrageous bounce to fox Luke and the ball was eventually scrambled home to make it 2-1. The last 5 minutes was seen out fairly comfortably with the back four not looking in much trouble after that.
Not a bad overall performance to say it was only our second game in nine weeks

MOM: Tom Gallagher

3D Dynamos 8 Kirkheaton 0
Scorers: Charlie Maslen(2), Joe Connolly(2), Ellis Forshaw(2),Dominic Kerrison, James Hay

3D’s were too strong for Kirkheaton and played well on a sticky pitch and scored some good goals in a comfortable victory.
Dom and Joe scored from good strikes from outside the box and Ellis finished off 2 good moves, the last with a superb header from Charlies excellent cross. The defence did well to keep a clean sheet. Keep it up!

MOM. Sam Bagshaw

Barugh 1-3 3D Dynamos
Scorers: Sam Bagshaw 2, Charlie Maslen

A tough away trip to a well organised Barugh gave the boys a good test today. We started well and dominated the early part of the match and put the Barugh defence under pressure with Ellis and Sam playing well before Charlie broke through to finish well to make it 1-0. Barugh’s keeper then pulled off two great saves from Aaron and then Joe after two flowing moves. Part of our first half dominance was due to some great defending and on the few occasions Barugh got behind the back 4 Luke Rhodes was alert to the danger.
Two well taken goals early in the second half from Sam made it 3-0 but Barugh then showed their resilience and had a good spell which led to a very well taken volley pulling a goal back and Luke Rhodes had to be on his toes minutes later to make a good save.
Charlie was unlucky later not to add to his tally but overall a very hard working performance in which the boys defended well as a team.

MOM: Jack Hirst but both full backs Will and Brad M ran him close.

Dalton Dynamos  1-13  3D Dynamos
Scorers: Aaron Rogers 3, Charlie Maslen 3, Joe Connolly 3, Ellis Forshaw 2, Tom Ireson 2

A clinical display by 3D’s who were far too slick in passing and movement for Dalton.
Dalton were never given an opportunity to get on the ball and some of the passing moves were excellent as we moved the ball well and scored some great goals and defended when called upon. The pick of the goals involved 6-7 one and two touch passes which was finished off by Tom Ireson. Again we didn’t take the foot off the pedal and even in the last minutes Marauding full back Will Cotton was unlucky not to get a penalty when upended in the box but this showed the work rate and commitment that we were still pushing right to the end.
Keep it up!

MoM Jack Hirst

3D Dynamos 3-2 Howden Clough
Scorers: E Forshaw, A Rogers, J Churchill

The match of the season as we battled through in a hard fought and exciting win against a strong Howden team.
With a few players missing we had boys who came in and stepped upto the mark. We set off very well and played some attractive passing football, Howden struggling to cope with Jack Churchill in midfield, and brought out a couple of early saves against possibly the best keeper in the league. A Tom Gallagher effort would probably have gone in against any other keeper but was plucked out of the air with ease! A deserved opener wasn’t long in coming though as not for the first time Ellis opened the scoring firing in from a corner. We dominated the first half but against the run of play Howden broke forward and drew level with a shot across the area that eluded Luke and nestled in the corner of the net.
Having been lucky to come in at half time level Howden now had the belief that they could get something from the game and started the second  half much stronger and were on top early in the second half hitting the bar from a free kick and causing our defence some problems and from a well taken cross from a free kick Howden forced the ball home at the back post to take the lead.
Finding themselves behind for the first time this season the boys then showed great character and started matching Howden. James Hey switching to the centre of midfield battled well. Winning the ball in midfield Ellis fed the ball to Aaron on the left, he showed good strength beating the defence and fending off defenders before cutting into the box and matched the run with a great finish to equalise. This gave us a great lift and within minutes Charlie put Jack through on goal and he showed great poise and fired home into the corner to make it 3-2. We still had to see out the last 5 or 6 minutes and Rylan Dickinson switching to defence snuffed out the Howden attacks until the referee blew the final whistle on a great match and great result.

Silkstone 2 3D Dynamos 5
Scorers: C.Maslen(2), A.Rogers(2), E.Forshaw

A good first half performance had us in control of the match and despite a late comeback from Silkstone we always looked like returning from the long trip with the 3 points.
Two great through balls from Aaron set up Charlie and Ellis for equally great finishes to put us 2-0 up early on. James Hey and Will put in some good crosses as we looked very dangerous in the first half. The Third goal came from Will who supported the attacks very well in the first half firing in a shot that the Silkstone keeper could only parry to Aaron who headed home.
A slick passing move straight after the break led to Charlie grabbing his second. We seemed to tire towards the end and Silkstone came back into it, first from a penalty then a defensive mix up made the score 4-2. The boys dug in though and Charlie put Aaron through to round the keeper and score to kill the game off.

3D Dynamos 8 Kirkburton 1
Scorers: A Rogers (2), J Churchill (2), J Connolly(2), S Bagshaw, C Maslen

3D’s continued their fine start with possibly one of their best performances since moving to 11 a side in a top of the table clash against Kirkburton. Both teams started well and the top scorers in the league posed the defence a few problems but the back four of Will, Brad, Jack and James soon settled and gave a very sound performance. Joe and Dom in the centre of midfield showed great strength and energy in the middle and we soon started to get on top with Charlie firing just wide before getting another opportunity which he fired in to give us the lead. Shortly after a good passing move with Charlie and Joe put Aaron through to slide the ball past the keeper to make 2-0 before Jack Churchill finished of a great period of 3D’s pressure to make it 3-0 before half time.
Immediately after the break Kirkburton showed why they are top scorers with a well worked goal to pull one back but within minutes Aaron fired home from a corner which seemed to kill the game off as we pressed on to create numerous chances after that with some good passing and movement. The defence held firm and defended as well as we have all season against a tricky attack.
Further goals from Sam, Joe (2) and another for Jack finished off the match.
Fantastic performance by all the team and a pleasure to watch.

3D Dynamos 6 Wyke Wanderers 0
Scorers: C. Maslen 2, T Waring, Ellis F, A Rogers, J Connolly

3D’s continued their fine start with a comfortable win against Wyke. Charlie set the ball rolling with a good run and clinical finish but Wyke’s keeper kept us at bay before Ellis fired in a great volley from a corner to make it 2-0. Charlie then added a third just before half time.
We created quiet a few more chances in the second half but couldn’t find the killer final touch in front of goal but the defence with Brad Cruse leading the way snuffed out the odd Wyke attack. Our dominance finally told as Tom, Aaron and Joe added to the tally to finish 6-0.

MOM: Ellis/Brad C

26/09/09

Batley 3 3D Dynamos 7
Scorers: C Maslen 3, E Forshaw, J Hey(2), J Connolly

The trip to Batley didn’t appear to affect the boys as we set off like a house on fire scoring 2 early and well worked goal from Charlie and Ellis and were on top for the first 20 minutes creating numerous chances before letting Batley pull 2 back. James Hey then bundled the ball home after another good move just before half time to put us 3-2 in front.
After the break we continued with some good football again and never really looked like dropping pionts. Charlie, Joe and Ellis scoring, Charlie even hitting a post before finally getting his well deserved third. Batley pulled one more back with a well finished breakaway but another pleasing team performance.

3D Dynamos 7 Batley Phoenix 3
Scorers: E Forshaw 2, S Bagshaw 2, C Maslen 2, J Hey

Another good team performance against an understrength Batley side but we passed the ball well and dominated the game from start to finish and apart from an inspired display by Batley’s keeper we may have had a few more but it’s nice to see us playing well and creating chances.
Batley battled all the way in a good match and advert for kids football and we can expect a much tougher game in the return fixture later in the season.
Good performances all round and Ellis and Sam again played well both creating chances and getting two goals each as well as did Dom and Joe in central midfield.

MOM: Sam Bagshaw

Kirkheaton 1 3D Dynamos 3

Scorers: E Forshaw, J Connolly, J Hey

A pleasing team performance in our debut game in the Huddersfield League and everyone played a part and we played some nice football.
We set off well and created a few early chances for Tom and Charlie but it was Ellis who capped off a fine first half performance with a well taken goal. Joe Connolly then doubled the lead with a strike from the edge of the box. Both Joe and Sam went close as we dominated the rest of the first half.
Luke Rhodes was alert when needed and showed some good handling when required plucking a cross from the air and always on his toes for any through balls and we looked competitive and strong in defence with Jack Hirst and Bradley McEvoy setting the example.
In the second half some early pressure from Kirkheaton led to them being awarded a penalty which was well taken to cut our lead. Another Kirkheaton break was stopped by a great last ditch tackle from Joe Connolly. The boys soon settled back and Sam Bagshaw and Jack Churchill were linking up well and another great run from Sam set up James Hey for a tap in to make it 3-1. Jack Hirst was thwarted late on by a great save and the post but the points were safe.

MOM: Joe Connolly
