AUGUST 2006 NEWS
Little
did we know way back in 1992 that by 2006 we would have 15 teams and a thriving
club. A huge thanks go to all our volunteers, sponsors, parents and of course
the players.
Sadly, two of our committee officers resigned at the end of last season –
our Chairman Chris who had been with us 12 years and Allison our treasurer who
was a co-founder of the club. Neil Beevor now takes over the chair and Steve
Alderson takes over from Allison.
The club annual Open Day was held on a scorching hot day in July, again a huge success, a total of £715 was raised for club funds, thanks to all who attended and supported us.
On Saturday 5th August on behalf of the club myself, Dave and Neil attended
Manchester FA to collect the following awards - Manchester FA Charter Standard
Youth Club of the Year the Adult Club of the Year and the Regional Adult Club
of the Year, which was a privilege and an honour.
Congratulations go to both our U7s and U9s teams who won the Fair Play Awards
in the Manchester FA Mini Soccer Festival over weekend 5th & 6th August.
Thanks to a lot of hard work by Neil we have also achieved FA Charter Standard
Development Club status, next is Community status which we are near to completing.
Our 15th season sees us with our first girls team, they will be U10s and play in the Oldham League which play Saturday mornings at Chapel Rd. Mark – our School liaison officer and Neil have both been instrumental in starting the team, Mark did all the work of visiting local primary schools with leaflets and recruiting the players. Training is at the Woolpack Dobcross on Friday evenings with Mark and Neil.
This year the Sportsman's Dinner will be on Friday 13th October at Delph Club. A slight change of format this year, instead of a speaker and comedian there will be two comedians and MC, tickets priced at £25 which includes a 5 course meal. There will be stand up bingo, raffle and auction during the evening to raise funds for the club. Ticket enquiries to Val and Dave on 01457 870575, please note there are a limited number of seats, so don’t leave it too late to reserve your ticket. We have a programme on the night, if anyone would like to advertise their business in the programme then please let Val know ASAP, all adverts cost £25, also let Val know if you would like to donate a raffle prize or an item for the auction, remember it’s all for club funds which goes to supply footballs, bibs, cones etc; for every team.
Finally, congratulations to Andrew Driver who has made it into the first team
at Hearts up in Scotland, Andrew started out at 3D Dynamos several years ago,
he also represented Scotland in the U16s a couple of years ago, so well done
to Andrew.
Who knows we might have the next David Beckham in our ranks!
Good luck to all our teams for the forthcoming season.
