Churchill Playing Fields, Greenfield was basking
in glorious sunshine on Sunday 26th June 2005, for the Club’s
inaugural Mini Soccer Festival held in conjunction with the Club’s Open
Day. Teams of 3D Dynamos F.C. and our visitors, Barnton
Y.F.C. from Cheshire served up a series of small sided soccer matches from
under 7 to under 10 age groups. The young players displayed commitment
during the matches and were a credit to their respective clubs for the
sportsmanship shown to each other. A worthy mention also goes to the
parents and spectators for their support of both teams throughout the day.
The festival was based on the UEFA Euro
Women’s Championships which were recently held in the North West, with each
team adopting a country. The format of the games was that all squad members
took an active part, with the results of the games not being recorded thus
ensuring that there were no winners or losers. The only winner on the day was
FOOTBALL! All teams’ members attended a presentation at the end of their series
of games to be presented with a commemorative medal.
Donations from the programme sales were
donated to the charity (CLIC) Cancer and Leukaemia in Childhood.
